“You see me , I see you” Body cam video

11/3/2017

APRÉS AVANT GARDE FESTIVAL an afternoon of alternative performance work on the Staten Island Ferry and terminals occurred Sunday, Oct 1, 2017.
Day de Dada Performance Art Collective organized the event in commemoration of the Avant Garde Festival that was produced in 1967 by Charlotte Moorman*.

My performance for the event was an outfit of navy blue and orange, the ferry colors, and a body cam attached to a bag on my chest.
Charlotte Moorman was known for her cello performances while wearing a bra of 2 tv monitors created by Nam June Paik.
My piece turned that around, instead of broadcasting video I was recording it.

You can view the video on YouTube.
Since the recording was not controlled the results were chance visuals- a lot of scenery shaking, bouncing or swooshing by, ceiling and sky, color effected by the sunshine. The several hours captured were edited down and the final video is similar to the video that I took with my phone at the same time, two versions of the same experience. The body cam was on more often though so I recorded some conversations that would have otherwise been missed.

*The Annual Avant Garde Festival of New York- organized by artist Charlotte Moorman, ran for 15 years in various locations. The 5th festival was a 24 hour event, September 29 - 30, 1967 on the John F. Kennedy Staten Island Ferry boat.

Day de dada at Saunder farm

9/16/2017

The Saunders Farm performance (Saturday September 2, 2017) in Garrison, NY, reading the wishes that were collected on the wish wall installation from the SI Ferry Culture Lounge was proposed by Day de Dada member Barbara Lubliner, and accepted by curator Marcy B. Freedman based on her theme- "In Times Like These".
Six addition performance pieces were around the farm for the afternoon event that included a reception for an outdoor sculpture exhibit produced by Collaborative Concepts.

The Day de Dada Wish Sisters, joined by a few Wish Brothers set up a blue wading pool with the wishes poured into it. And then sat around the pool reading the wishes, joined by viewers who also read some on the wishes. Viv de Dada and Larry Schwabacher encouraged people to write their wishes on new tags that were put on the nearby fence.

While the exhibit info led us to believe there would be cows roaming near our performance site, that did not happen, but we did see them grazing in a field, they did not care if we were there.
